Principals Message

Hello Coker Wimberly Family,
Thank you for an amazing two years together. I am extremely honored to navigate Coker Wimberly through these uncertain times. We are a body of extraordinary leaders, scholars, teachers, families, and community whom can do anything we put our minds and hearts to do. I have no doubt that we will do what’s best for children.
I firmly believe in life-long learning and empowering others. After serving in the US Army, I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s Degree in School Health Education. I received a Master’s in Middle Grades Science from Walden University. I earned my second Master’s Degree in School Administration from High Point University.
During my 15 years in education, I taught 9th-grade Health Education and Earth/Environmental Science in Halifax County Schools, 6th and 8th grade science in Nash-Rocky Mount Schools, and 7th-grade science in Vance County Schools. In 2012, I received the Middle School Teacher of the Year distinction from Nash-Rocky Mount Schools. Each of these experiences provided opportunities for me to grow as an instructional and distributive leader.
In this coming school year, we will be driven by a common cause, STUDENTS FIRST. This will mean that whatever we do, we will do it in the spirit of excellence. We will push ourselves to not only think outside the box but obliterate boxes by being intentionally innovative.
Coker Wimberly has an extraordinary staff of leaders and change agents. As we navigate through this pandemic and uncharted territory, we will remain focused on students, family, and our community. We were awarded a $1.49-million-dollar Innovation Partnership Grant that will certainly go a long way towards making educational experiences equitable and enriching. We will keep up the momentum of student growth and make sure that their learning is relevant and empowering. We will embrace the future determined to innovate!
There is so much in store for us this year and we are 100% ready!
