We’ve missed seeing our scholars in school this past week, but we hope they had a chance to enjoy some snow time! As we prepare for the upcoming week, please ensure your scholars have completed all their remote learning assignments so they’re ready to jump back into learning.
We’re excited to announce a new initiative: Class of the Month! Each class will compete for this honor by exhibiting exceptional character, hard work, and dedication. The winning class will receive the trophy for the month and enjoy a pizza party to celebrate their achievement!
Remember, attendance is key to success! Our goal is 100% attendance every day, with zero tardies and zero early sign-outs. Let’s work together to make this happen for our scholars.

Debido al clima invernal que se espera que afecte nuestra área más tarde hoy, todas las Escuelas PĂşblicas del Condado de Edgecombe cambiarán a un dĂa de aprendizaje remoto asincrĂłnico para mañana, miĂ©rcoles 22 de enero. Los estudiantes trabajarán de manera independiente desde casa en las asignaciones proporcionadas por sus maestros. Important Weather Update:
Due to the winter weather expected to impact our area later today, all Edgecombe County Public Schools will transition to an asynchronous remote learning day tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22nd. Students will work independently from home on assignments provided by their teachers. These assignments have been shared with students and are also available on Google Classroom. Teachers will be available via email to provide support throughout the day.
Additionally, our PTO meeting scheduled for this afternoon has been canceled.
We will continue to keep you updated on any additional changes. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy the snow!

First, a transportation update: Bus 352 will have a substitute driver tomorrow morning. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please ensure scholars are at the bus stop on time to assist with a smooth transition.
Next, a note about the weather: With low temperatures expected this week, we are lifting the uniform policy for scholars. It’s going to be very cold outside, so please have your children dress in layers to stay safe and warm.
Lastly, a reminder about our PTO meeting: It will be held virtually tomorrow, January 21st, at 5:30 PM. The virtual link will be available on our school’s webpage and social media platforms.

¡Estamos emocionados por otra fantástica semana de enseñanza y aprendizaje en la Escuela Primaria Coker-Wimberly! Hay varios eventos emocionantes en nuestra escuela y comunidad esta semana, asà que tomen nota:
Lunes, 20 de enero: No habrá clases para el personal ni para los estudiantes en honor al DĂa de Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Nuestros estudiantes y escuela han sido invitados a participar en la Marcha Conmemorativa del Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. y el evento "Almuerzo con el Rey."
La Marcha comienza en la Iglesia Bautista Misionera St. James en McNair Road y termina en Edgecombe Community College, donde se llevará a cabo una breve ceremonia en el Auditorio Keihin.
Después de la ceremonia, se servirá un almuerzo de pizza. El evento concluirá aproximadamente a las 12:30 PM.

We are excited for another fantastic week of teaching and learning at Coker-Wimberly Elementary! There are several exciting happenings in our school and community this week, so please take note:
Monday, January 20th: There will be no school for staff or students in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Our students and school have been invited to participate in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative March and "Lunch with the King" event.
The March begins at St. James Missionary Baptist Church on McNair Road and ends at Edgecombe Community College, where a brief ceremony will take place in Keihin Auditorium. Following the ceremony, a pizza lunch will be served. The event should conclude around 12:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to unite as a community and honor Dr. King’s legacy.
Tuesday, January 21st: The PTO meeting will be held at 5:30 PM. Please join us to connect with our amazing PTO and support our school community.
Friday, January 24th: At 7:30 AM, we will host Literacy with a Loved One, featuring mother figures. We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate reading and family connections.
Winning on Wednesdays: This week, our students will continue receiving interventions and enrichment opportunities. We are committed to helping our scholars grow academically and in character.

All Edgecombe County Public Schools will release students two hours early tomorrow,
Friday, January 10, 2025, due to the possibility of inclement weather. Students will be dismissed at 1:15 PM.
As a reminder, we will celebrate our scholars' achievements tomorrow during the following times:
Kindergarten and First Grade: 8:30–9:00 AM
Second and Third Grades: 9:00–9:30 AM
Fourth and Fifth Grade: 10:00–10:30 AM
Your child’s teacher should have contacted you if your scholar will be receiving an award tomorrow. Our goal is to inspire all of our students to strive for academic achievement, good character, and success. Recognition is earned through hard work, growth, and perseverance, and we encourage our students to see this as an opportunity to set goals and achieve them in the future. We look forward to celebrating those who have met their milestones and supporting all our scholars as they work toward their next accomplishments.
Additionally, our CandyMan Main Event has been rescheduled for Friday, January 17th.

Due to lower than anticipated temperatures overnight and the possibility of black ice on bridges and overpasses in certain areas of our county, all schools will have a 2 hour delay today, Monday, January 6th. This delay is for students and staff. We apologize for the late notice but feel this is necessary for the safety of our students and staff.
